Julia Russell,

Jubini in art.

When I was a child, I wished I’d never grow up. Now that I kinda have, that’s probably why I draw.

A drawing of a little girl sitting at a table, drawing with a colored pen, next to an orange cat, with many drawings on the walls.
Una giovane donna sorridente seduta sul parapetto di un ponte durante il tramonto, con città e alberi sullo sfondo.

Julia Russell is a young Italian-American illustrator
who has been deeply connected to art since
childhood. Growing up in Italy surrounded by her
grandparents’ artworks and collections of paintings, she has developed a passion that led her to study Multimedia Arts at IUAV University in Venice in 2021, obtaining her bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts in 2023.
During those years she had the chance to spend a year in Paris with the Erasmus program, where she studied cinema, art, theater and photography at the University of Paris 8.
After graduating with honors, she chose to
devote herself to illustration, enrolling at the International School of Comics in Rome from 2023 to 2025.
Since then, she has been working as a freelance illustrator, working on various projects that go from children’s books to calendars, posters, single illustrations, celebration cards and much more.

Her main field of interest remains children’s books illustration.
With her works she seeks to awaken the inner child and create fairy-tale-like and reassuring worlds inspired by her childhood spent in the countryside. In her illustrations she likes to represent her artistic message: rediscover childhood with a touch of mystery, peace, and magic, accompanied by a serene and dreamy gaze.
